I wouldn’t consider myself a vintage shopper or expert but I do love playing with vintage apparel and fashion! Last fall, a friend of mine who is also a stylist/blogger (see link below) had reached out to me about collaborating to style a vintage inspired shoot with her. I was a bit hesitant as I did not know much about vintage style, vintage apparel, and knowing me- just mixing all things vintage into one era when they really below into their own time of origin , but I gladly agreed.
Within recent years vintage fashion is becoming a popular alternative to mass looks. Our Inspiration was to use vintage inspired fashion and reforming it with a modern twist. Circle skirts, midi’s, cropped tops, tulle. We wanted her to feel reserved and feminine but also confident and daring. To think of it, I sometimes envisioned – what if Jackie Kennedy wore something like this? As a matter of fact, while I am sitting her looking at photos of Jackie Kennedy, I found a photo of her in a red dress that looks very similar to the one below! What a coincident.
I have always been intrigued by the thought of contrasting fashion statements but after this shoot it inspired me to play around with it even more with my everyday wardrobe. Mixing tulle skirt (or any skirt) with a t-shirt. Vintage skirt with something more modern. It’s not something new but encouragement be to play around and have more fun with fashion.
That ends it here, but until next time- get your FASH-ON!
